Repair Café

Saturday, August 5, 2017, 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

What do you do with a CD player that won’t close?  A broken zipper?  A bike that doesn’t ride smoothly?  Bring them to Repair Café!  In collaboration with Habitat for Humanity and community volunteers, Kershaw County Library offers you an opportunity to learn how to and receive assistance with mending your broken items. If you have nothing to repair, you can enjoy a cool beverage on us, watch or lend a hand with someone else’s repair job, or get inspired at the reading table with our books on repairs and DIY.

What can you bring for repair?

Small appliances/electrical items, small carryable furniture items, clothing/textiles, jewelry, computers, bikes, and toys.  We will also offer a knife sharpening station to use, free of charge.

House rules:

  • No TV’s, microwaves, or large appliances
  • First come, first served
  • Bring replacement parts with you
  • Participants must stay with their broken item as it is being repaired.  Drop-offs will not be accepted.

We cannot offer any guarantees for repair and are not liable for damages to any item.

his program is made possible by a Library Services and Technology Act grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services administered by the South Carolina State Library.
